Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington in Ohio and moved with her family in Los Angeles. She landed her debut role, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002, for her role as the 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford played the lead actress on Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace was dropped from the series in the year 2005, to take on an even more prominent role in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 and Taken (2008) opposite Liam Neeson. She played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace performed the role of Shannon once more in the show's finale episode, as well as two additional episodes. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the sixth season. The actress plays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Gyllenhaal is a member of her family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her brother. Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as a lead character actress in Secretary (2002) which is the erotic drama about romance and Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated by The Golden Globe Award. The Dark Knight, which came out in 2008 following several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she appeared in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). She also appeared as the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action-packed thriller released in 2013, as well as a singer on the set of Frank (2014) as well as The lead for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year 2018. Gyllenhaal's debut as a filmmaker and writer came in 2021 when she wrote The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama that won her the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also received the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
